Delayed Gastric Empting Following Transhiatal Esophagectomy without Pyloroplasty: Our Experience with Endoscopic Botox Injection
ثبت نشده
چکیده
Esophagectomy is accompanied with high morbidity, in up to 70% of cases as well as significant mortality. One of the complications is delayed gastric tube emptying, up to 30 %. Gastric drainage procedure like pyloroplasty may solve this problem. This procedure, although relatively safe, can lead to significant complications like suture line leaks, bile reflux, and late pyloric stricture. The aim of this presentation is to demonstrate our experience in coping with this problem.

Minimally Invasive Approach to Esophagectomy
BACKGROUND Recent advances in laparoscopic and thoracoscopic surgery have made it possible to perform esophagectomy using minimally invasive techniques. The aim of this report was to present our preliminary experience with minimally invasive esophagectomy. METHODS We reviewed our experience on eight patients who underwent minimally invasive esophagectomy using either laparoscopic and/or thora...
متن کاملAsymptomatic Diaphragmatic Hernia Diagnosed after Six Years Following Esophagectomy: A Case Report
Diaphragmatic hernia, secondary to transhiatal esophagectomy, appears to be a relatively infrequent diagnosis. Patients may be asymptomatic or present with various symptoms. Diagnosis of this condition requires a high index of suspicion. The most common cause of diaphragmatic hernia is widened esophageal hiatus during surgery; therefore, narrowing the hiatus can prevent conduit herniation. Here...
متن کاملUsefulness of Pyloromyotomy With Transhiatal Esophagectomy in Improving Gastric Emptying
INTRODUCTION Pyloromyotomy is a pyloric drainage procedure routinely done during transhiatal esophagectomy (THE) to prevent delayed gastric emptying (GE) resulting from truncal vagotomy. However, controversy still surrounds the need for pyloric drainage following esophageal substitution with gastric conduit after esophagectomy. The aim of this study was to determine the usefulness of pyloromyot...
متن کاملThe Comparison Between the Complications after Two Surgical Techniques of Esophageal Cancer
Introduction: Esophageal cancer is a common gastro intestinal malignancy. One of the most common techniques of surgery in esophageal cancer is transhiatal esophagectomy with esophagogastric anastomosis in the neck. This technique is accompanied by complications like chronic gastero-esophegeal reflux and late stenosis. This study was designed to compare the risk of complications after two surgic...
متن کاملThe Role of Pyloromyotomy on Gastric Drainage in Esophagectomy and Gastric Pull-up Procedures: A Randomized Clinical Trial Study
Introduction: Gastric drainage disorder is one of the complications of gastric pull-up and esophagectomy after surgery which might lead to esophageal cancer and benign strictures. The aim of this study was to determine the role of pyloromyotomy on gastric drainage. Materials and Methods: In this prospective randomized controlled clinical trial study, we studied 51 patients in two matched groups...
